Shelter Cove, CA. has a nice paved strip on a coastal plateau. There is a campground right next to the ramp. No fuel or aviation services. It's a short walk to the beach. Be careful of the weather. I landed there on beautiful January day, spent the night camping, and was preparing to take off the next day when a 300 ft. thick fogbank rolled in. There were clear blue skies above the fog but the runway visibility was 100 feet. Three days later my wife had to drive over 7 hours over roads that would make an astronaut puke to rescue me.
